Oriental Mother of Pearl Furniture with the Mother of Pearl brides is finished in gloss Black or gloss Red.
It is made from good quality Chinese wood similar to pine, with some MDF surfaces. Good quality MDF is used because it is man made and does not expand and contract very much with changes in temperature and humidity therefore reducing cracking of the lacquer which would occur with natural wood.
Oriental Mother of Pearl Furniture has a history that dates back thousands of years. The skills and techniques used in making this piece have been handed down from generation to generation. The Lacquer Furniture is hand made and hand painted by highly skilled craftsman.
Further to the base coat being applied, the piece is treated with several layers of natural lacquer. The craftsman then paints the fine gold coloured detail and decoration by hand on top of the lacquer before carefully applying the mother of pearl and soapstone carvings. A final lacquer coat is then applied resulting in a truly exquisite work of art.
Please Note: Being handmade, the furniture will not bear the same consistency of finish as mass machine produced furniture. Slight variations in shape and colour may also occur with the decorative applications. You shold avoid placing the furniture in direct sunlight or against a radiator.
